BUTTERCREAM STYLES
These cakes have an exterior that is simply frosted in our signature Swiss Meringue buttercream. Your main consideration here is what texture should the finish be - smooth? horizontally lined? Brushstrokes? Buttercream can also be tinted to introduce color into your design. Adding floral elements is a common choice for this category - either fresh (provided by your florist) or handcrafted sugar flowers sculpted by us.
SHEER STYLES
This style is often referred to as “naked” due to how the thin layer of buttercream allows the edges of the cake to peek through. This is a beautifully rustic style, that still maintains the sharp edges and modern styling of its fully covered friends. 24k gold leaf or a drip (chocolate ganache or caramel!) are popular choices added to accent the look.
FONDANT STYLES
Fondant is the most versatile of all the mediums. We suggest the use of fondant if you’re opting for a deeply saturated color palette, sculpted / 3D elements, stenciling, marbling or hand painting. This style of cake is fully filled and covered in our Swiss Meringue buttercream. The fondant is an extra added layer - rolled very thin and paneled around the exterior. (You’re choosing fondant in addition to buttercream, not instead of). Since fondant cakes tend to require the most hours of labor and skill, these types of designs require customized pricing and often require a higher investment.
